This is perhaps one of the best optical illusions I’ve seen. It demonstrates why we need objective color and light meters (and science) as our eyes will often deceive us. Believe it or not, in the graphic below, the squares labeled A and B are the same shade of grey! For a proof of this and explanation why our eyes don’t see the squares as being the same shade, see:
