Barack Obama’s half-brother, Malik, says he’s voting for Trump
The sibling rivalry continues.

Abon’go Malik Obama, the half-brother for former President Barack Obama, stole the spotlight from his relative by revealing Wednesday that he would once again be voting for Donald Trump in November.
“I am Malik Obama. I’m a registered Republican and I’m voting for President Donald Trump,” the Nairobi, Kenyan-born, naturalized US citizen posted on X.
The endorsement was nothing new, as the 44th president’s half-brother backed Trump against former members of the Obama administration in the last two election cycles.
The snub of Vice President Kamala Harris — one day after former RINO congresswoman Liz Cheney endorsed her — also comes after Obama reportedly helped elevate her to the top of the 2024 Democratic ticket to replace Biden, 81.
While both sons of Barack Hussein Obama Sr., a Kenyan economist who died in a car accident in 1982, Malik called his younger half-sibling a “deep disappointment” and credited Clinton for prompting his departure from the Democratic Party.
“She should have known better as the custodian of classified information,” he said of the ex-Secretary of State’s use of a private email server to hold sensitive government documents.
“Make America Great Again is a great slogan,” he added in the interview from his home in the rural village of Kogelo. “I would like to meet him.”
That happened eventually when he was a featured guest of the Trump campaign at the third presidential debate in Las Vegas.
By 2020, Malik told The Post he was “110% still with Trump” and that Biden, then nearly 78 years old, “looks like he’s going to drop dead.”
Public records show that Malik still maintains a residence in Maryland and was registered to vote in the state as of 2016.
He worked under dual citizenship as an accountant for decades in the Washington, D.C., metro region, and jetted back and forth between the US and Kenya.
In 1992, Malik was even the best man at Barack’s wedding to Michelle, and he later visited the White House during his half-brother’s time in office.
“I stuck with Barack Obama all through his presidency, until I realized he was all about himself,” Malik also posted on X in September 2022. “That’s when I ditched him for President Trump."
But according to a 2020 interview with The Post, the brothers had a falling out over Malik’s decision to launch a Virginia-based charity — the Barack H. Obama Foundation — that was busted in 2011 for failing to register in the state and lying about being a tax-exempt organization.
A review of his social media presence and reports also show Malik, a Muslim, also likely switched to the Republican Party due to his socially conservative viewpoints on same-sex marriage and abortion.
“We Want More Babies. My President,” he posted on X last month after Trump, 78, pledged that his presumptive second administration would foot the bill for free IVF treatments.
Other startling X posts range from the crass to the conspiratorial — including once pumping out a fake image of a birth certificate, dated before the establishment of the Republic of Kenya, that purportedly showed Barack was born outside the US.
He also relished ex-independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s decision to drop out of the race and endorse Trump last month at an Arizona rally.
The Post reached out to the Maryland Board of Elections about his current voter registration status.
Neither the Trump campaign nor the Harris campaign immediately responded to a request for comment.
