Tea Party Patriots Warned About Law's
"Central Design Flaw" 18 Months Ago
Washington, D.C.– Today the Tea Party Patriots, the nation’s largest tea party organization, commended the Obama administration for recognizing and cancelling the “central design flaw” in a key part of ObamaCare—one that “would destabilize it, eventually requiring a taxpayer bailout”— before taxpayers are stuck with the bill for yet another big government bailout.
“A year and a half ago, the Tea Party Patriots warned the White House about this fundamental flaw in ObamaCare that would quickly lead to its collapse,” said Jenny Beth Martin, co-founder of the Tea Party Patriots. “Now our warnings have been confirmed by a lead ObamaCare official, who warned Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius that this ‘central design flaw’ ‘would cause the program to quickly collapse.’”
“We knew ObamaCare was flawed and would collapse,” said Mark Meckler, co-founder of the Tea Party Patriots. “But only the federal government could make a key part of its signature legislation collapse—before it even begins!”
Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius admitted in a letter to Congressional leaders on Friday, “I do not see a viable path forward” for the Community Living Assistance Services and Supports (CLASS) Act, a key part of the legislation.
“The American people are against ObamaCare, and now the President’s own Health Secretary has cancelled the part of legislation that he promised would help seniors,” said Martin and Meckler. “Mr. President: Heed the will of the American people, heed the advice of your own Health Secretary, and scrap all of ObamaCare now.”
