China carmaker BYD sets North American HQ in LA
LOS ANGELES
Chinese electric carmaker BYD Co. is opening its North American headquarters in Los Angeles -- a hub that officials promise will bring dozens of jobs to the struggling local economy and will serve as a sales and research hub.Agreements were signed Monday at the building in the heart of downtown's auto dealership area. BYD, which is backed by billionaire Warren Buffett, makes electric and hybrid cars, charging systems, solar panels and LEDs.
HERE'S MY QUESTION: WHAT DOES WARREN BUFFETT KNOW THAT THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION DOESN'T KNOW OR HAS NEVER LEARNED? SHORT ANSWER ... HOW TO INVEST IN BUSINESS AND CREATE JOBS USING PRIVATE SECTOR FUNDS!?!Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa says the headquarters could provide up to 150 engineering and management jobs and hundreds of other jobs in related industries, such as car repair and solar panel installation.
BYD will import its electric cars and buses from overseas, concentrating on fleet sales but beginning consumer sales next year.
