I'm amazed at the number of Obamacare supporters that gasp in horror when they hear that employers are going to take the business decision opting for the "fine" rather than pay for health care or lower employee hours. We many times are told that the employers should obey the spirit of the law, not the letter of the law and provide coverage for everyone as the law intended. If that was the case we would have no need for the enforcement. The PPACA (Obamacare) law was stuffed down our throats with very little debate, no amendments accepted from the other side of the aisle, by a Speaker that actually said "We have to pass this law so we can find out what's in it" and voted on by most members who had never read it any of the estimated 2,800 pages. The law was written by Democrats entirely and few, if any, republicans supported it and none voted for it. The limits on the number of hours is one of many things in the law that were overlooked in the rush to get this signed into law. Business decisions are for the most part based on tax code interpretations, legal risk and subtle "wiggle room" provided nothing new here. Suffice it to say businesses have to make economic decisions based on new laws all the time. Since this part of the law was written into it by Democrats who wrote and supported the law, why is it so shocking that businesses have chosen to do exactly what the Democratic lawmakers voted to allow them to do?
