THE CITIZENS OF THIS ONCE GREAT COUNTRY HAVE BEEN ABANDONED BY THE RECKLESS POLICIES AND INEFFECTUAL POLITICAL BICKERING.  THE CAPITAL DOME IS GETTING WAY TO SMALL TO ACCOMMODATE THE INFLATED EGO'S OF CELEBRITY POLITICIANS SEEKING THEIR 15 MINUTES.

FRAMING THE DRACONIAN ISSUES OF … THE SKY IS FALLING SEQUESTER … WHICH ONLY APPLIES TO DISCRETIONARY SPENDING ARE THE FOLLOWING POINTS … With $16.5 TRILLION in national debt, our country simply can't afford four more years like the last four years. Under the so-called "draconian" or "meat cleaver" sequestration plan, spending will increase by $1.6 trillion over the next ten years - instead of by the planned increase of $1.7 trillion.  Now, that's $85 billion out of a $3.554 trillion budget. That's $35,540 billions and we're trying to cut $85 billion out. If we can't do that, we're in real trouble and -- because we have a huge spending problem in this country and we've got to start somewhere. We're talking about cutting 2.3 percent out of this year's budget. This year's budget is bigger than last year's. So we're not cutting below what we spent last year, but we are taking 2.3 percent of this year's budget and cutting it. Now, the problem is this. The sequester as designed by the White House said we're not going to take anything out of mandatory spending, which is 65 percent of the budget. We're going to cut everything that we're going to cut out of the discretionary part of the budget, which is 35 percent of the budget. So the 2.3 is not out of the whole, it's out of a part, which means that, in reality, we're cutting discretionary spending by about 7 percent. Even the "massive" cuts to our national defense that are supposed to leave our national security so vulnerable to enemy attacks are a crock. Without sequestration, defense spending is supposed to increase by 20% in ten years. With it? An 18% increase.  Studies show if the statists would just agree to hold federal spending at 2.5% annual increases, the budget would be balanced in ten years!  THE RUB In August 2011, bipartisan majorities in both the House and Senate voted for the threat of sequestration as a mechanism to force Congress to act on further deficit reduction. The specter of harmful across-the-board cuts to defense and nondefense programs was intended to drive both sides to compromise. The sequestration itself was never intended to be implemented.  Well, the actions of one Congress can't bind a future Congress, and that's why we have to have people in the House and Senate who are committed to the long-term reform of our budget process. We cut $85 billion this year. There's no guarantee that people in future years are going to follow through with it, especially as long as this president is in office. Remember, the idea of using the sequester was Obama's idea. He thought it was a great idea. And now he says it's brutal and arbitrary and wants it revoked. He once threatened to veto any bill that came to him that tried to stop or overturn the sequester.
